RPM formula

Revenue ÷ views × 1,000

Example

$250 ÷ 100,000 × 1,000 = $2.50 RPM

Use revenue and views from the same date range. Mixing periods produces a misleading RPM.

Use total YouTube revenue

YouTube defines RPM using the eligible revenue reported in Analytics, not only advertiser CPM or a public earnings estimate.

Compare like with like

Calculate separate periods or content formats before comparing them. Shorts and long-form videos can have very different RPMs.

Your inputs stay local

This calculator runs from the two numbers you enter. It does not need access to your YouTube account or private Analytics.

YouTube RPM calculator FAQ

What is YouTube RPM?

RPM, or revenue per mille, is the amount a creator earns per 1,000 views after YouTube’s revenue share. YouTube says RPM can include ads, YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers.

How do I calculate YouTube RPM?

Divide the YouTube revenue for a period by the total views from the same period, then multiply by 1,000. For example, $250 from 100,000 views equals a $2.50 RPM.

Is RPM the same as CPM?

No. RPM is a creator-side metric based on revenue after YouTube’s share and all relevant views. CPM is an advertiser-side metric based on the cost per 1,000 ad impressions before YouTube’s revenue share.

Where can I find the numbers for this calculator?

Open YouTube Studio, choose Analytics and Revenue, then use revenue and views from the same date range. Matching the date range is essential for an accurate calculation.

Does a higher RPM always mean higher total earnings?

Not necessarily. RPM measures revenue efficiency per 1,000 views, while total earnings also depend on view volume. A channel can earn more overall with a lower RPM if it receives substantially more views.

Does YouTube RPM include sponsorships or merchandise sales?

Not generally. YouTube’s RPM metric covers revenue reported within YouTube Analytics, but it does not include most outside sponsorships, consulting, services, or indirect revenue.
